Resident Financial Continuity and External Affordability Indicators

LC-IR-2026-05 · A planning framework for external service affordability and participation sensitivity.

Indicator purpose

The Resident Economic Independence Index is an analytical measure used to assess how effectively integrated services support resident financial continuity. REII complements allocation and operating-contribution measures by considering the resident’s external service position within a defined scenario.

Strategic Finance uses the indicator to examine the relationship between comparable outside provision and continuing participation. The framework is intended for aggregate planning and sensitivity review. Individual service decisions remain within the applicable agreement and assessment process.

Definition and reference conditions

REII is a modeled estimate of a resident’s capacity to maintain comparable housing, healthcare, transportation and essential services outside the LifeCorp ecosystem. The income reference requires independent income, independent housing availability and financial-account verification. A ratio of 100 represents modeled independent income equal to the comparable outside service basket.

The example holds verified independent income at 1,000 monthly reference units and begins with an outside service basket of 800. The outside basket increases by an assumed 6.0% annually. These external comparison assumptions are distinct from the LifeCorp Ecosystem Price Index, which follows group-controlled tariffs.

External affordability scenario

As outside provision becomes more expensive relative to the independent-income reference, the index declines. The example holds its income reference constant to isolate that exposure. All values below are planning scenarios; the publication reports no newly observed resident outcomes.

Participation and contribution

Lower independent affordability may be associated with lower expected voluntary attrition in a mature integrated-service relationship. Financial review therefore considers REII alongside the separate retention assumptions used in acquisition payback and lifetime contribution models. The economic significance depends on the household’s alternatives and the continuity of existing provision.

The original resident-economics outlook models contribution over sixty months. REII adds a view of the outside service position without changing that reporting horizon or retrospectively altering the matched Continuity allocation observations. Contractual transition requirements remain governed by the Resident Service Terms.
